My Life of UTVs
Being Surrounded by Passion Breeds It In Yourself

The next generation of riders, racers and off-road aficionados are coming in hot, and they can’t put the pedal to the floor quick enough. Their pure and fearless point of view is inspiring, and like most young boys who barely stop talking for a sip of air, Kashton Hook is no exception in wanting to share. He’s literally surrounded by all things UTV, and loving every minute of it. We sat down for a quick chat with the budding entrepreneur to hear about his take on the world of UTV Sports Magazine.
“I’ve had a great experience with UTV’s the past couple years. Well, I’m only 7 years old, but UTVs have been in most of those years. My dad is Keith Hook, the publisher of UTV Sports Magazine. I get to see all the hard work at the office to make sure the stories are written, pictures are put in and the cover looks awesome. I like the Little Ripper’s section and seeing all the kids who race, which is cool.
I love UTVs because when we go riding in them, we have so much fun. There are desert trails right outside my front yard that we get to go on. My favorite part about riding is going in the sand, jumping and drifting. We go so fast!”
“We get to keep a lot of UTV’s in my garage, which is cool to see all the different kinds. We’ve had Polaris RZR’s, Can-Am’s, and we used to have an Arctic Cat Wildcat too. When I’m in the garage, I see Kyle and Brandon {yes, they get their hands dirty too} working on the UTV’s. Brandon rolls tires on and takes lots of pictures. Kyle is usually underneath them and working on lights. I always ask them questions and they teach me new things about UTVs.
Every year, I get to go with my dad and the team of UTV Sports Magazine to Moab, Utah for Rally on the Rocks. It’s my favorite trip of the year, I get excited every time. I like the big group rides when all our friends go on an adventure. My favorite view was when we rode to the very top of a huge cliff. I even saw dinosaur tracks up there! Then, I got to stand next to a huge rock that was taller than a fridge. At the end the trip, my dad always throws a big taco party for all our friends, and it’s awesome. Sometimes I get to see my friend Pete from Pro Armor, Marcelo from Assault, and sometimes Lauren from SSV Works and Dan from Klock Werks.”
“When we’re at home, my dad has been teaching me how to drive Bumble Bee, a yellow two seater Can-Am Maverick Sport. I get all dressed in my safety gear, and I get to sit on my dad’s lap to steer while he does the pedals. Pretty soon, I’ll be able to take it out all by myself with a little bit more practice.
I’m really proud of my dad and the team for making a brand new magazine every month. They work really hard and always want things to be great. It’s not easy making a new magazine every month, it takes a lot of time, lots of writing and lots of pictures. I’ve made a few of my own pages and hope to have a magazine someday too.” – Kash, age 7
Thanks for sharing with us, Kash. Hearing what sticks out in a child’s mind is a nice reminder of what’s truly important, and why all the hard work is worth it. We’ll sit down around the campfire for a chat with you any day, buddy.
