There’s No Denying Lindy Mowery’s Southern Charm

This month, we’re introducing an individual whose strong work ethic can only be outweighed by her charisma. There is no understatement in saying this person is passionate about what she does and is willing to go the extra mile for everyone around her, whether it be a friend, a client, or even a stranger. She’s an East Texas southern girl and her name is Lindy Mowery. Lindy, the stage is yours…
Hey, y’all! Unlike most people I admire, my passion for Motorsports didn’t start as a young child, so it’s nice to see the rookies get recognized and have the chance to share. I’m sure you’re wondering who I am and what I do. My husband and I run a family business where we print graphics/wraps for UTVs and other Motorsports. We are very involved in the UTV world with our business sponsoring two race series and having a race team here in Texas, but our passion for off-road came long before. I started with a quad, thanks to my husband and his family who were into dirt bikes and sport quads. After riding his Honda TRX 450, I wanted my own, so I got a 2004 KFX700 and put on pink plastics—she’s a beast! We call her Pinky and she still goes to Glamis every year.
As for the UTVs, they started coming in 2014. We had a few before our current 2017 RZR XP4 TURBO—this build is sick—but as soon as we heard rumors Honda was making a UTV, I wanted it! Our first off-road toys and favorites to date are Honda, so when they came out, I put a deposit down and waited for her to arrive. That day was March 30, 2019. That’s when my passion for UTVs really kicked in. I’ve always had a lead foot, fast cars, and lots of tickets. As we all know, if you like to drive like that… you tend to be a horrible passenger.
Anyway, we took the Talon to the dirt race tracks, rally tracks to get me some seat time. I learned a little about drifting with left foot braking. I loved it so much! I even participated in a UTV women’s race event one time. I rolled it, but still finished! I really enjoyed it but realized I need to improve my skill before I try to compete in a series. More seat time and lots of learning became huge goals. Now, the Talon is too pretty to race, so I’d borrow one of the guys’ Yamaha’s when I sharpen my skills.
In the Fall, we took our annual Glamis trip taking the Talon for the first time. We’ve been traveling to Glamis hauling all our toys for many years. It’s a 17-hour drive! That’s how much we love it! All of my Glamis experience as a driver has been on quads though. We take the RZR, but I’ve always been too intimidated to drive other people around in the dunes with it. I’m still learning the dunes in a buggy now, so the UTV in the dunes for me was a much different drive. I felt like the cage made it a bit harder to see, compared to the quad. When our trip was over, my passion to learn and master the drive became a mission. I also realized I needed more power and lights.
It was hard to find aftermarket products for the Talon. We have a pretty built out RZR and we wrap buggies, so I see some very cool built UTVs. I couldn’t find any of the cool parts they all had. The first thing I needed was a rearview mirror. Through Google, I found Assault Industries. I really loved the mirrors, so I made my first order! I continue to collect Assault products for the Talon. Not only does their stuff look badass… I rolled in a race going fast… in deep mud/woods and those mirrors never even got a scratch. Assault has become my favorite company. I look forward to future projects with them.
I’ve since put a ton of work into my Talon. One part is the design concept. I am a Leo, a fire sign. Hence, the lion in flames. The inner roof has the celestial pattern, with hidden graphics including all things Leo. I just fell in love with the Talon and wanted to make it mine. I’m proud of how it’s coming along and can’t wait to do more. I’m an East Texas girl; strong, loving, loyal, and kind but if you cross me, I get fired up. That’s why I was given the phrase “purr like a kitten, scratch like a lion” years ago. That just naturally went right along with a Leo design. It’s my tag line, so to speak.
I think my wrap and the ones I’ve designed have stories behind them. That’s how my designs work. I’m like a tattoo artist, pulling info from the clients and in the end, I come up with designs they didn’t know they wanted. I strive to blow my clients away. I want to help lift spirits. I have a beautiful machine that can do that and I have a smile and wave, so I got a permit and I have been driving around my community doing just that. People wave, clap, dance, and it’s such a good feeling. I’ve connected with so many in my community just by smiling and waving, even the local sheriff department! If I could inspire just one person, to look inside and find a way to lift spirits, even if it’s just a smile to another car or person far away… do it! We all need to help each other and I’m proud to be doing that!
Nice work Lindy, and not just that Talon! Thanks for doing what you do, keep it up! To see more rad photos of Lindy’s ride, check out her Instagram @texas_talon, or to inquire or check out other designs visit graphicsguys.com.
