Icon Alloy’s New Rebound PRO with INNERLOCK Technology

If you’ve been around the off-roading world for even a short period, you know how common a sight bead lock wheels are. And with good reason – the benefits for running lower tire pressures offroad are sometimes just a requirement and having the security of a bead lock when doing so is a massive benefit. However, bead lock wheels have a bit of a Catch-22 of their own. Not being DOT legal for road use complicates many a weekend warriors’ lives and adds unwanted complexity in any trip over tough terrain.
Icon Alloy’s new wheel, the Rebound PRO with INNERLOCK Technology, offers a flexible, DOT legal solution to this conundrum. With a new method for locking down the bead of a tire to prevent it from unseating itself at low pressures without using the typical clamps of a bead lock wheel, the Rebound PRO effectively offers the performance and benefit of a bead lock without the legal issues.
Replacing a typical bead lock, a series of pins with O rings are used to hold the bead of the tire in place on the wheel in a manner that is both DOT compliant and effective at preventing unseating. According to Icon, this system provides similar performance to a more traditional bead lock in regard to holding the tire on at loads.
In addition to providing benefits of a bead lock, the Patented InnerLock technology (U.S. Patent No. 11,090,976) from Icon Alloys does not require re-torqueing on the bolts used to hold the bead, helping add some peace of mind for regular use. With the hardware for the bead securing system also being placed in a solid, safe area where it should be protected from any rocks or other damage for rough off-road use, durability shouldn’t be a concern with the Rebound PRO.
In addition to providing all this innovation, the Rebound PRO offers a great overall package as a wheel. Tipping the scales at a relatively lightweight 28 lbs. each and providing a fantastic 3200 lbs. of load rating. An attractive 8-spoke design is coupled with all the performance you can expect to gain from your typical bead lock.
Currently available in a 17×8.5” size with a variety of offsets, and in attractive finishes (such as bronze, satin black, or titanium) there’s sure to be a color that will compliment your vehicle nicely, providing both an attractive and functional wheel well suited to a multi-purpose vehicle.
As well as having an attractive appearance, the Rebound PRO’s finish looks durable, ready to take a beating and keep on rolling. Combining the strength and durability typical of off-roading wheels with some attractive style elements one can expect to blend in on the street, the Rebound PRO makes a convincing argument to be the wheel of choice for enthusiasts looking for style and capability in one package.
It’s hard to overstate the benefits to off-road performance a combination of bead locks, along with a strong set of wheels, can provide. Making use of the full tread on the tire by running lower pressures is a surefire way to help tackle some difficult terrain and owing to the capability from a set of wheels like the Rebound PRO, can be fully utilized. The added confidence can really let you stretch your legs off-road without fear of an unbeaded tire.
