Many up-and-coming Little Rippers begin their off-road journeys early on. Some saddle up in a car not too long after they’ve taken their first steps. Why? Because it’s fun! But also because it’s proven that getting behind the wheel as early as the toddler years attributes to future successes since it is a time of great cognitive development. Start them early, right? Staying true to this statement and living proof is none other than this month’s Little Ripper Tyler (TJ) Siewers from Mesa, Arizona.
Since birth, TJ has shown an undeniable passion for all things racing. At a mere age of two, TJ had already learned to fully operate a LT 50 quad all on his own and has not stopped since. His experience began there with quads and drag racing at small local events. Then, a few short years later, TJ progressed from quads to UTVs and began traveling the United States to compete in multiple UTV classes throughout each season. His first year at the age of five, TJ was given special permission to race in the RZR 170 class. Even though the age requirement was six years of age, his comprehension of racing rules and the ability to control a car at such a young age allowed him to start his racing career even earlier than most UTV racers.
Shortly after, TJ moved on to the RZR 180 modified class and went on to obtain overall, 2nd Place Championship for Lucas Oil. While continuing to race in his modified class, he also progressed to a faster class, RZR 250, competing in AZOP desert, UTV World Championships, and short course racing at Lucas Oil Regionals. Juggling two cars and two classes at the age of seven, TJ proved his hard work and dedication after receiving the 1st Place Championship in the RZR 250 class his first season competing in the class. With only two years of experience and already two championships under his belt, TJ was quickly identified as one of the top competitors.
At ten years old, TJ has quickly gained a large re-noun with collectively achieving well over 60 podium wins since starting his racing career in the Polaris RZR 170 class, graduating to the RZR 250, and now competing in the RZR 570 class. All of these accomplishments have been achieved in various and grueling races such as the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series, AZOP, Best in the Desert, and even this year’s Mint 400 where he took first place in the youth 570 class. It’s no wonder he is already making a huge name for himself.
Today, TJ is more enthusiastic about racing than ever. He still likes riding quads as well as dirtbikes, but his parents prefer the safety of the UTV roll cage. He diligently attends every race he can while going to school full time and still competing in two RZR classes: RZR 170 & RZR 570. Outside of racing, although rare, TJ is the most upbeat, humble, and caring Little Ripper. He is recognized for having such a big heart and makes friends wherever he goes. He loves his family and friends and spending time with them at the races. Some of his other hobbies are playing sports like basketball, baseball, and riding BMX, but he is not in any leagues because his busy race schedule and school do not give him much time to invest in other sports. That’s alright because, at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about for TJ—the racing lifestyle and friendships. When TJ is old enough, he wants to race off-road trucks both short course and desert, but for now, keep your eyes peeled for the UTV classes. With TJ competing in 30+ races a year, you’re sure to see him on the track.
