In our world of tackling terrain, few things can be valued over protection. Be it protecting yourself inside the vehicle, or protecting the vehicle itself, it’s important to build your UTV to last. Pro Armor built this Polaris RZR Turbo R Launch Edition to do just that, with a whole complement of parts meant to enhance comfort and protection.
Using a car as capable as the Polaris RZR Turbo R as a starting point for this build, Pro Armor’s focus on providing meaningful protection and comfort where it counts serves to really amplify what this side-by-side is. A factory 181 Horsepower two-cylinder turbocharged engine and an already impressive list of suspension specs, this RZR doesn’t need too much in the way of performance-oriented upgrades to feel like a capable monster on the trail.
Starting off with one of the most important upgrades one can make, a set of Pro Armor’s Rally Wheels – wrapped in Pro Runner 33” tires – give you the grip needed to tackle any obstacle or obstruction. In addition to providing some fantastic performance, this setup also looks great. With a gorgeous deep dish to the wheels’ black finish, plus the tires are mean enough for a vehicle such as the Turbo R. With an already rock-solid suspension setup from Polaris, the addition of these wheels and tires will help squeeze every ounce of dirt-shredding performance out of this vehicle.
Protecting this setup, Pro Armor went with their fantastic Sport bumpers. With sturdy (but lightweight) aluminum construction, these units keep your vehicle protected without sacrificing weight, allowing you to continue enjoying the thrills of this RZR. The addition of aPro Armor grill and skidplate like this, you also have a fantastic, aggressive appearance. Having the gorgeous, ready-to-install paint on these bumpers, you also receive a full plug and play package without worrying about color matching your paint.
Nestled inside these trail-ready bumpers are a full complement of lightbars from Pro Armor. With an 11” amber light bar nestled in the front, right above the color-matched grill of the RZR, you can see what you’re taking on day or night. A bumper design which compliments the fierce look of the factory headlights, and a lightbar nestled in like some added jewelry, this setup looks right at home in the dust. The front view of this RZR feels like it’s challenging you to just try it on and see exactly where it can take you.
With all this confidence and protection, it’s important to remember the cabin of this RZR. With a set of Pro Armor’s extremely comfortable and secure G Force seats in the front and rear, as well as five-point harnesses, you can feel like you’re right at home in your favorite armchair while you hurtle down a trail. This added comfort and secure seating really add some confidence to the driving experience, allowing you to throw this RZR Turbo R into the corners in confidence, and push the vehicle to its limits, comfortably.
Above your head sits the Pro Armor pocket roof and roll cage, further increasing your protection inside the cockpit. Using these great additions to mount on another lightbar (this time a 33” nestled in the roof), as well as the Pro Armor mirrors, means you can count on some serious visibility out of this RZR’s cabin, and with four seats, you can bring plenty of others along for the ride.
Moving to the sides, the replacement doors add some additional weight savings, as well as providing all the toughness and durability you can expect from Pro Armor. With plug-and-play installation, as well as fantastic fit and finish, these doors provide a sturdy feel to the simple act of climbing inside. With the additional door bags providing some nice cushioning as well as additional storage inside the UTV, you can expect plenty of thrills and trail chasing fun without sore legs from hitting them on the insides of the doors when railing corners.
A nice detail is Pro Armor’s sun visors. The 12” visors’ size and AR coating cuts the glare effectively, with a nice tint. Solid aluminum construction ensures these visors are built to last and take a beating doing it.
Wrapping up this RZR is a beautiful gray finish from ProLine wraps, which compliments the lime green color of the bumpers. The livery looks fantastic, and really compliments the aggressive lines of the Turbo R, and even more so with the aftermarket bumpers from Pro Armor providing a more customized look to this UTV.
With a focus on making a more comfortable, durable vehicle out of this Turbo R, Pro Armor has effectively created a RZR you can feel comfortable throwing around in the dirt, without having to worry about consequences. Having so much confidence in the vehicle (especially with the comfortable cabin), really lets you tear it up in this RZR while feeling right at home.
Levering off the already fantastic suspension from Polaris and its multiple modes, ranging from Rock Crawling all the way to an aggressive track setup means there’s some genuine versatility under the treads in this RZR. And with the added focus on “up armoring” the setup, it provides all the confidence to take on whatever you could throw at it in peace of mind that it will stay shiny side up without a hitch.
With the factory 181 horsepower turbocharged engine propelling this UTV, performance is certainly not something that’s lacking. Having such a complete package from the factory as the Turbo R really compliments the additions that Pro Armor has made, focused on providing comfort and durability. Watching some nice rooster tails fly off behind you and feeling the raw power, this Polaris will plant you in the seats and take off with a push on the throttle. Feeling the Pro Runner tires dig into the dirt and launch forwards while the Polaris suspension keeps it all shiny side up is like a gateway drug for chasing thrills off the beaten path, and it will only leave you wanting more time in this RZR.
