After spending a massive amount of time behind the wheel shock testing in cookie-cutter race cars, 24 year old Carson Wernimont had a great sense for what the winning combination felt like. Afterall, Russ Wernimont Designs (RWD) is one of the legendary shops for shock tuning and shock prep.

The 2021 King of the Hammers marked the 12th year of UTV racing at this week long event. In those years, we have seen the racecourse become increasingly difficult to further challenge today’s more capable vehicles and the number of drivers exploding to take on the beast of a race.

RACE RECAP | A STORY IN PHOTOS
2021 brought us a shorter BITD Parker 250 racecourse despite one additional lap. The route shifting from 80 miles down to 60 miles could have caused lapped traffic to become a bigger issue with the lead UTV Turbo cars, but the helpful, although sometimes brutal, winds worked diligently to clear dust from the cars ahead, when it wasn’t busy creating its own blinding dust.

Born into a family of go-fast drivers, builders, and beholders of high-performance knowledge, the Hawks family of Benchmark Performance out of Ramona, CA.
