Eight-year-old Kyson Christensen began his first year of racing this season. Kyson has made podium multiple times but has come up just short of getting that first-place win. Each race he has continued to learn and improve and his determination to take first paid off Saturday in Cedar City, Utah when pulled off the win.
During practice on Friday Kyson had a pretty hard wreck over a double jump. This resulted is some last-minute fixes on the car. Fortunately, they were able to get the car ready for the race Saturday.
Once the green flag dropped Kyson was able to get the hole shot and keep the lead with Emmy Engle right behind him for about half the race. Emmy then passed Kyson, but Kyson was able to get back around Emmy, and take the lead again to take home that first place spot.
Kyson went on to say, “It was fun battling it out with Emmy for first place, she is an awesome racer.”
At podium, Kyson gave a shoutout to his sponsors and those who have supported him along the way: Christensen Ready Mix, Rugged Radios, Antigravity Batteries, WR Performance Products, Hansen Motorsports.
“Thank you to my dad, mom and sister, my grandparents, the friends I’ve made racing and to all those who have helped me get to this point.”
