Shawn Saxton drove his Polaris RZR through the field, and past teammate Jeremiah Wagner to win the SXS Pro Production race during round six of the ATV MC WORCS Series presented by Polaris RZR Series. Cayden MacCachren finished first in SXS Pro Stock and took the points lead. The event was held at Three Peaks Oasis in southwestern Utah.
The race weekend was held at a new course, Three Peaks Oasis after previously having raced at Iron Mine Raceway in Cedar City. The combined off road and motocross track featured a sandy racing surface and had the most turns of any course so far on the tour.
SXS Pro Production

In SXS Pro Production, Wagner took the lead from Beau Baron on the first lap, while Saxton started on the second row. Despite dusty conditions making passing opportunities difficult to track down, Saxton drove a textbook race through the field and caught Wagner with two laps to go. From there, he drove to victory with his teammate just behind him. David Haagsma was third. All three were driving Polaris RZRs. “That was a lot of fun,” exclaimed Saxton. “It was so cool to drive through the pack and then see my teammate. Jeremiah picked up the pace and he ran such a good race. This program is so sweet.”
Wagner started second just behind Baron. Wagner spotted an opening in the dust and he pounced, taking the lead from Baron. He ran a smooth and consistent pace from there until the final two laps. Though he turned up the wick, Saxton held the lead, pushing him to second, but handing him his first podium of the season.
“I just tried to run a smooth race and not break any parts,” said Wagner. “Then I saw Shawn pulling up behind me through all of the dust and I turned the heat up on the last two laps. We finished first physically and second on time so I couldn’t be happier.”
Pro Stock

In Pro Stock, young Cayden MacCachren took the lead on the first lap from Baron and led every lap of the event. His fourth victory of the season handed him a tight lead in the points, just ahead Baron. Baron finished second, followed by Haagsma. All were driving Polaris RZR RS1s.
“Beau took the holeshot, but he had a little bobble and I was able to get the lead,” said MacCachren. “The dust was so bad and it was hard to pass. Beau is the smartest guy out here so it’s always good to be up here with him.”
Baron, who has won just about everything there is to win in WORCS competition, had a rare issue and MacCachren took advantage. Though he began to catch up at the end, Baron settled for second. He had nothing but praise for MacCachren. “I had a good run,” said Baron. “I got a good start and three corners in I screwed it up. I climbed a rut, and got passed. Toward the end, I made up some time but my hat is off to Cayden.”
Haagsma fell back in the early stages of the race after hitting a tree. Citing a clutch setup issue, Haagsma did his best to stay in contention. With two laps to go, Haagsma ran from fifth to finish third, earning his third podium of the weekend, and giving Polaris a SXS Pro class podium sweep. “We got tangled up in the beginning and I lost a lot of time,” said Haagsma. “I was a little off-pace here. My mechanic told me I was up to fifth place so I went as hard as I could for the last two laps.”
The WORCS SXS classes return to action October 7-8 as the series heads to Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, CA.
