There’s one thing for sure when you own a UTV—you’re going to be working on it. Whether you call it preventive maintenance, upgrades, service, repair, or just plain trail-fixing. Tools will be coming out, it’s just part of the fun (or so they say!). Tools should be everywhere, ready to roll in the time of need. We constantly talk about tool storage and solutions on board our UTVs, and even touch on tools we use in the shop or garage, but there’s definitely a need in between. Literally.
Whether it’s to be prepared on the trail or to get to your broken junk. Tools have to travel, and that is not always the easiest thing to do. Our go-to gurus of tools, Boxo USA, knows that we need options. And just recently, we realized the value of that in-between solution. Our UTVs and shop are now adequately equipped, but our trucks and trailers were not.
When the call is made to assist a UTV in the middle of the desert, a quick solution for tools is the 3-drawer hand carry tool box. The package is more than manageable to carry and offers more storage room for a larger selection of tools. Simply loading the toolbox into the backseat of the truck or even the bed, and the recovery team was in route with confidence.
The box is designed to do more than just store. The durability itself is key, as it’s thrown around with some weight within it. We unexpectedly proved that fact, while bouncing down a dirt road. The loaded box tumbled from a seat and slammed to the floorboard, landing face down in a clattery explosion of sound. We’ve had cheap boxes deform and even break open in similar situations, but not this one. The heavy duty 20-gauge steel construction held its ground (pun intended) and the digit-lock resettable combination lock system stayed intact and kept the contents inside. Even the powder coated finish held up other than a minor surface scuff from the hard impact to the carpeted floor.
We can easily describe the usefulness of a hand carry box, but to be able to prove the durability was an added bonus. With some peace of mind that it’s designed to be used and abused, it’ll be our go to tool box for many miles to come. Next time we’ll just do a better job at tying it down.
