There’s no question that being prepared for inevitable inconveniences on the trail is something everyone should have a plan for. You don’t always need a jack, but when you do, being without a purpose-built one to get your ride off the ground makes that heavy load even heavier.
Moose Racing’s new universal jack lift, with a lifting capacity of 2000lbs and an extension range of six to thirty-two inches, is more than up to the task of getting most UTVs in the air. Quite the feat, considering this whole package can easily be held in one hand.
Operation is very intuitive; simply turn the handle to raise or lower the lift tongue to your desired height. Or, if you want to get things done in a faster and less physically intense method you can easily remove the provided handle and use a cordless drill to spin the lift.
From my personal experience using floor jacks daily for years, they can be a rather terrifying experience. Making sure both the vehicle and ground are stable enough, yet alone lifting thousands of pounds of metal, are things anyone should take extra care handling. Luckily, Moose’s lift jack has both a wide base and a six-inch-wide lift tongue to aid stability and confidence.
At only thirteen pounds, this jack has surprising capability and adds some real convenience to most UTV applications you can think up, however, its not for every vehicle in every terrain. We found ours most applicable for utility models, in our case the Polaris RANGER XP. Moose offers a model specific mount for the back of bed keeping it handy yet completely out of the way.
The overall fit and finish from the Moose Utility Division is as simple as it gets, after all it’s there to save the day, not impress the ladies! Anyone who has had to use a scissor jack to change a tire is sure to agree with the sentiment of wanting a sturdy jack when life and limb could be at risk.
Moose’s lift has their weatherproof galvanized finish, and it sure feels sturdy and ready to take a beating. In addition, the options for mounting this to your UTV are plentiful. Moose provides options for general roll cage mounts, or the Polaris RANGER models specific bed mount we opted for. Both have easy stowing and easy-to-access so it’s ready when you need it. And let’s admit, we’ll all need it at some point.
Having the capability to minimize frustration during trail breakdowns is a fantastic way to keep your adventures heading in the right direction. Jacks aren’t the first purchase we think of, but when the time comes you’ll wish you had one. This jack from Moose is easy to use, easy on the wallet, and easy to wish you had one when things go boom, pop, and bang!
