Our Trusty SpeedStrap Never Fails

In the hustle and bustle of today’s society and our lives as media guys, it’s rare that we get to spend months, if not years, testing a product before finally sitting down and putting pen to paper, or in the digital world we live in, fingers to keyboard. New products are coming out at such a rapid rate in this industry that it’s hard to keep up. We get a product, put it in play, invest a few hundred grueling miles on it and then sit at the keys and hack away. It’s so rare, in fact, that we found the SpeedStrap a part of our everyday ride kit, while forgetting it was well overdue of a product review itself…Until now.
Over the course of the last 18 months, the 1 inch SpeedStrap has been a part of every UTV Sports Magazine outing, whether for work or for fun. It’s remained faithfully in the backseat, bouncing around and getting abused. When duty calls, its springs to life, does its job without waver and gets tossed back to its home to beat around for more miles of abuse. We aren’t seasoned off road vets like Seth Quintero or Bailey Cambell, so attention is called on the SpeedStrap more than we care to admit. My favorite story takes place in Glamis, CA during Camp RZR. We loaded up the trusty Ramptek UTV flatbed trailer behind the Toyota 4-Runner and the overstuffed enclosed behind our recently apportioned half ton 2wd GMC. As we hit the sand in front of our camp, there was a lot of RPM, but no more forward motion out of the pickup. Mind you, we were invited to camp with some big boys, Branden Sims and Jake Carver. To avoid ridicule, we sprung into action and before they knew the wiser, the trusty SpeedStrap was yanked out, weaved together and within 3 minutes the scene was cleared.
What makes this little 1 inch strap so great? For us, the fact that its coiled up small and carried everywhere. Add in that this little red wonder is rated up to 10,000lbs and you have a tool for not only your truck, but also your UTV, you’ve got a double winner on your hands. No need for multiples or big bulky straps. We have to assume that the material they use is made from untouchable unicorn tears to take the massive abuse we constantly put it through.
When the SpeedStrap comes out, we always get a question or 2, with no hooks…how does it work? Well, the guys as SpeedStrap are pretty smart. Taking the end of the strap and looping it through itself several times gives it a ton of strength without the fear of it coming loose and knocking someone’s teeth out. Add some safety into the mix and it is easy to see why the SpeedStrap goes with us everywhere.
If you’re also in the habit of getting your 1-ton and fifth wheel struck, they also have the “Big Daddy” which is rated at 20,000lbs and for those that just like to get their UTV dirty, the half inch strap will do just fine for you. At nearly the same cost as those cheap bulky yellow straps, we should probably order more of these for all our vehicles.
