Man was it fun to get back to some short course racing! Qualifying was on Friday, and in both the Youth 1000 and Youth 600 classes, I was able to get out front, run some clean laps, and qualify P1 for Rd8.
My first race on Saturday was in my Polaris RZR 570 where I got out front early and started to check out. The competition caution came out and we knew we had to protect the first lap or two after the restart which was exactly what we did. We were able to keep everyone else behind us and take home the win. Next race up was in my Polaris Rzr RS1 where I was starting pole. We had a tight battle with second the entire race, but in the end we were able to finish on top. That was it for Rd8, but our weekend wasn’t over with the desert race being on Sunday. Up first on Sunday was my 570 again and we did great. We made some moves early on and was able to take home the win securing the overall championship and the weekend overall in the Youth 600 class. Even after the win though, we knew our work was only getting started with the Youth 1000 race coming up.
I started row one and when the green flag dropped, I was able to get into third. I was able to make a move on the short course track to get into second where first place and I stayed together for the first 4 laps. I was doing great and I was right there with the leader until I had some issues getting around a lapped car where I suffered a left front flat. We knew that 3rd was only 40 seconds behind and we had some work to do if we wanted to finish on the podium. I was able to battle my way through the last lap and even with the flat, I was able to get second place for the race giving me second place overall for the championship and the weekend overall in the Youth 1000!
Overall we had an amazing year racing WORCS with a championship in the Youth 600 Stock class, a second place finish for the year in the Youth 1000 Stock class, and the SxS World Finals Championship in both the Youth 1000 Stock and Youth 600 Stock. A huge thanks to everyone who supports me and to WORCS for putting on an amazing series.
