Installing Hardware Has Never Been So Easy

Much like the horse and buggy was replaced by the modern automobile, drafting has taken a backseat to the world of Computer-Aided Design (CAD). CAD utilizes computers as a tool to aid in the creation or optimization of a design and is a much more efficient and precise way to create parts for your UTV. The modern scan tools will scan the exact geometry of a vehicle, giving you the perfect recipe for precise fitting parts. You will arrive at the end result much faster than the horse and buggy days.
Although most major companies have this technology, very few take the time to properly use it. The UTVs rolling off the assembly line are far from identical, and you can quickly see how an aftermarket part has to be massaged for proper fit. All the technology in the world won’t help if the car being scanned is imperfect or the operator didn’t get his morning cup of coffee.
There are a few companies in the Powersports industry that do it right. Companies like Assault Ind., Axia Alloys, and Kleinn Air Horns are holding themselves to a higher standard. Yes, I said a horn company was holding themselves and their products to a higher standard. Kleinn Air Horns actually produces onboard air systems, but with a loud twist. Why have an air compressor and tank bolted onto your UTV if you can’t use it on demand? Adding a dual bell air horn to the air system not only adds a level of safety, but a few levels of fun.
Kleinn Air Horns recently sent us their Direct Fit Air System to install on our 2019 Polaris RZR XP Turbo Dynamix, and of course, they included the air horn in the kit. Pulling the kit out of the box, you instantly notice the time and effort the engineers took to create this system. Not that any one component was over the top, but the bracketry that holds it all into place was spot on the entire way through the install. Not settling for just a compressor in the system, Kleinn Air Horns set out to find a mounting solution for a reserve tank of air, and they did just that. The addition of an air tank allows a reservoir of air that will fill tires more quickly, have the capacity to run a small air tool, or enough volume to reseat a bead. This is a huge advantage over the competition.
Continuing to pull parts and brackets out of boxes, we uncovered the holy grail of instructions. Now I am not much for instructions, after all, half the fun of installing new parts is figuring it out on your own, and the other half is being accustomed to sub-par instruction manuals. But the book that was supplied with the Kleinn Air Horns kit was absolutely fantastic. It was a true bolt-by-bolt guide to an easy install. Hats off to Kleinn Air Horns’ engineers and technical writers as the parts and instructions were top notch.
The attention to detail didn’t stop there. In the kit is a Contura rocker switch that fits perfectly in the Dynamix’s dash. There are quite a few other companies on the market that supply a much cheaper switch or set of switches that require drilling holes. That’s not the case with Kleinn Air Horns. They supplied the correct parts to get the job done right. As we flipped through the pages, the install was moving effortlessly. We left most of the hardware loose, making sure it all fit perfectly before snugging it up. Once we got to the wiring, we noticed it only takes 3 wires to control it all.
Although it was very time consuming to make sure we had each one of the brackets installed correctly, installing the Kleinn Air System and Horn was quite easy. We also complicated things by adding a few additional aftermarket parts from Quadlogic while the rear sway bar was disassembled. This 2019 Polaris RZR XP Turbo Dynamix is set up for long excursions to remote places. Adding the Kleinn On Board Air set up will give us a lot more confidence when getting into remote places. Having air at a moment’s notice, whether that is for running tools or filling up tires, makes most jobs easier. Plus, who doesn’t like honking an air horn at their friends?
